IMPORTANT COMMUNICATION REGARDING BRICKFAIR 2020
Paving new ways comes with great rewards but not without it’s challenges. We’ve had a number of our guests and visitors struggle with the ticketing process, and for this reason NO TICKET WILL BE REQUIRED TO ENTER BRICKFAIR 2020 on Saturday 24 October 2020.
Brickfair has become an institution in South Africa, with visitors and exhibitors travelling from all the corners of the country to take part in this flagship annual event. Brickfair 2019 had a rocky start, but proved to be the most successful of all the Brickfair events to date. For Brickfair 2020, the organisers were hoping for a smooth road, but global challenges almost meant no event at all.
Willi and Joe are builders at the core, and have approached this iteration of Brickfair with the same gusto, curiosity and determination as they have done with every build they create. From their brick-heart perspectives, there are millions of configurations for standard LEGO bricks and equally there are a millions of configurations for a successful and fun Brickfair. This meant Brickfair 2020 took a completely new direction, transforming to a first-of-its-kind virtual LEGO event in South Africa.
Moving from a physical world to a virtual world means many changes to look forward to. In-depth looks at your favourite builds, the ability to zoom in and touch your screen (although you still can’t touch the LEGO). What will not change are all the things we love… amazing new ideas, local and international speakers, build masterclasses, competitions and giveaways.
What about the LEGO displays?
Imagine if instead of having all the exhibitors getting together in a single place all the visitors could go to them? Impossible? We’ve made it possible, by allowing each exhibitor to film their masterpiece for you to view.
The LEGO build exhibitions this year will be shown via our website and our Facebook page.
Exhibitors will need to submit photos and a video of their builds for inclusion in the Brickfair 2020 exhibition. This year’s competition will be judged based on the photos and footage you submit, so make it cool! Pay special attention to the media guidelines and make sure you approach your project from a viewers perspective as this is what you will be judged on.

Exhibitors, this information is important, so listen up.
